Service Above Self

Rotary’s guiding principle is Service Above Self, reflecting a commitment to helping others and strengthening communities.

Rotarians focus on service in three key areas:

  • Our local community

  • Our professional and business environments

  • The global community

Rotary members also strive to uphold high ethical standards in their professional and personal lives.

A principle that guides Rotarians worldwide is The Four-Way Test, which encourages individuals to ask:

  • Is it the truth?

  • Is it fair to all concerned?

  • Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

These values help guide Rotary members as they work to improve lives and create positive change.
